Affinity Groups The Capital Region Family Business Center has created discrete groupings of its family business members, called “Affinity” Groups. The purpose of these peer groups is “learning through dialogue about family business dynamics and best business practices”. These facilitated affinity groups meet on a regular basis to discuss family matters in a small group setting. Each group consists of no more than 18 individuals.
Group meetings provide a forum to meet with like individuals within family businesses for the purpose of exchanging ideas, trends, issues, opportunities unique to family businesses.
The affinity group is a “safe” place where members can benefit from the collective knowledge and experience of their peers. Sharing and learning become the hallmarks of these groups and lessons learned can then be taken to the work place or the family to assist in perpetuating the family business.
The Capital Region Family Business Center has created two groupings:
In the future, the organization may add or split up Affinity Groups as necessary to facilitate free flowing dialogue.
The groups will meet on a regular basis as determined by the group.
Affinity group participation is a benefit of family business membership in The Capital Region Family Business Center.
